Rich History and Ongoing Preservation 

Our property is steeped in rich history, with early Māori civilisations having come to the Rotorua area in the 14th Century, and fishing villages having been established along the shoreline of Kawaha Point. The lodge itself has origins dating back to the 1930s when it was a family homestead. Despite the original property having burned down in 1933, it was lovingly restored to maintain its historic charm, before being converted into a lodge in 2004 by current owner Jamie Main. The estate’s original features, including the grand architecture and period details, have been carefully preserved to honour its past.
