Exciting Updates: Winter Maintenance and Lodge Renovations

Discover the exciting updates coming to On The Point! From restoring the iconic homestead roof to renovating our Apartments, we're committed to enhancing your experience.

Dear Valued Guests,

We are delighted to share some exciting news with you regarding upcoming improvements at On The Point – Lake Rotorua. In our commitment to providing you with the best possible experience, we will be temporarily closing our doors to undergo some significant maintenance work and refresh of our some of accommodation and public spaces.   The closure commences at 1 May 2024.

One of the most notable projects we're embarking on is the reframing of the roof on our main heritage homestead. Built in the 1930s, this iconic building boasts traditional terracotta tiles, reminiscent of its original design before it was tragically lost to fire in 1903. The renovation involves carefully lifting off the tiles, reinforcing the roof structure, and creating a new pitch to ensure efficient water runoff. While it may seem like a small adjustment, this undertaking is a major reconstruction effort aimed at preserving the integrity of our beloved homestead.

Additionally, we'll be focusing on similar improvements for our Apartments, including the Lake Villa and the Villa Apartment. This comprehensive renovation will not only involve roof refurbishments but also the replacement of cladding, ensuring these accommodations meet the highest standards of comfort and durability.

During the closure, we will also be refreshing some interior elements, such as replacing soft furnishings, laying new carpet in the main lounge area, and completing the installation of rain head showers in our lodge suites. These enhancements will further elevate your experience when we reopen our doors.

While we anticipate the main homestead work to be completed within three months, we've allowed for a four-week extension to account for any unforeseen weather delays. Our target reopening date is set for September 1st, with the possibility of opening reservations as early as August if all goes according to plan.

Rest assured, a dedicated team will remain on-site to oversee external maintenance tasks and handle any inquiries via phone or email during the closure. We understand that this temporary inconvenience may not be ideal, but we believe that winter provides the perfect opportunity to address these crucial maintenance matters.

Your support and understanding during this time are greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to me directly.

Warm regards,

Ann Gregor
